Developed in 1838 in Lancashire, England – only 10 minutes away from where our factory is located. The Surface Print technique was pioneered to replicate hand block printing. This technique celebrates a unique and highly skilled manufacturing method of wallpaper printing. Surface Print can be used for traditional and archive designs, or for more modern contemporary designs with metallic and textured finishes such as Coarse Silver or Grit.
We have four Surface / Sur-Flex machines at our factory. One Surface Print machine, able to print up to 12 colours, onto a grounded substrate at 52cm wide and another machine, which can print up to 8 colours, at 68.5cm wide.
The Sur-Flex process was developed in-house at Surface Print. Mixing the hand-painted effect of Surface and the fine details of Flexo printing to create unique designs that have a 3D feel to them. Our two Sur-Flex machines have the ability to print 3 colour Flexo, in register with 6 colour Surface or 2 colour Flexo, in register with 7 colour Surface both at 52cm wide.
